Damsel in Distress
In the garden I found an orchard spider hanging from its web.
It's a colorful spider, quite beautiful...if you happen to like spiders.
But what's that in the distance?
It's a damselfly waiting to become dinner.
Lucky for this damsel in distress, I was curious enough to touch it to see if it was alive. It grabbed my finger immediately and freed itself from the web.
I didn't know whether to be happy for the damselfly or sad for the spider, because I like them both.

I'm not a fan of spiders I find in the house, but they're okay living outside.
ReplyDeleteGood. I'm glad I didn't creep you out with this one. ;)
DeleteTho I do love seeing spiders and their webs, I have to say I'm very happy the damselfly got away :)
ReplyDeleteIt was a happy ending for the damselfly, but not so much for the spider. I'm sure he'll be able to catch something else in his web...
DeleteOh wow...this is amazing! I think I'm happy you rescued her...at least for a little while. I would have never imagined something her size becoming lunch or dinner. Great captures!
ReplyDeleteI was surprised, too. That would be a big meal for such a little spider.
DeleteYour photography!
ReplyDeleteAnd I think I like how this Nature Episode turned out.
It's rough out there, on all sides...
Thanks so much, Natalie! Deep down, I think I side with the damselfly, too.
